Western Oregon to Joshua Tree

I’m planning a solo trip from Portland to Joshua Tree. I need some desert time--and to get back out on the motorcycle. I’ll set out on March 10. Other than a slog down I-5 through Oregon (I rode the OR coast twice last summer), I’ll be on mostly secondary roads. I ride an R1150RS and am no dirt guy, so it will be paved all the way.

I’ll stay in motels, no camping. My route will be
