Coast/Desert Run, March 2011

Home after eight days and almost 3000 miles. It was a great trip, Joshua Tree was probably my favorite destination. There were a couple of route-changing challenges, not the least of which was having to avoid my first day's destination: Crescent City. It had been hit by the tsunami that day and while my motel wasn't damaged, it was without electricity. I stayed on I-5 and spent my first night in Redding.

On the ride back, I had to forgo a stop in Virginia City (really wanted to drop in on Hoss and Hop Sing). The weather north from there was below freezing. Think the Donner Party. So back to I-5 up through the Central Valley. It's a dull ride up 101 and the interstate, but each day had its interesting stretches.

Of course I didn't take nearly as many photos as I should have. There will be seemingly few, but I've edited in the hope of quality over quantity.
